About Water Wise Youth Classroom Lessons
FAQs
- Who is eligible? Any public or private school classroom, afterschool program, or library within Cochise County can reserve lessons with our Water Wise Youth specialist.
- What lessons do you teach? We offer more than 20 lessons, which are described in our curriculum guide. Some activities require open space in a gym or outside, but all are inquiry-based, interactive, and fun. Most specific lesson space and supply requirements are listed in the curriculum guide.
- Does it cost anything? All lessons are free as a service of the University of Arizona Cochise County Cooperative Extension.
- What ages do you teach? Lessons are designed for K-8 students, with the highest number of classes offered to 4th graders. Teach high school and want to try lessons? Email us!
- What is your max class size? Group size is limited to 40 students in one class. Most lessons do not adapt well to a full-school auditorium setting.
- How long are lessons? Lessons can be 30-90+ minutes long, depending on the class level and specific lesson chosen.
- How often can I schedule? We can schedule lessons weekly, biweekly, monthly, or on a one-off basis. Teachers are able to schedule a whole year's worth of lessons in advance! Schools located outside of the Sierra Vista area may consider coordinating with other teachers to do several classes in one day.
- Do lessons align with learning standards? Yes! To learn more about grade-specific standards addressed by lessons, contact the Water Wise Youth specialist.
- How do I schedule? Email alexkosmider@arizona.edu to schedule.
