Contribute to citizen science by finding local water springs

When
Do you want to contribute to citizen science and document the status of our precious water resources? Come join Water Wise and Sky Island Alliance for a Hybrid Spring Seeker event. There will be a virtual training (via Zoom) on July 29th at 3:00 PM followed by a field trip on July 30th at 8:00 AM. Registration is required for both.
About the Required Training (July 29th, 3pm, register here): Join us on Zoom to hear from Sky Island Alliance’s Habitat Conservation Manager Sarah Truebe about the Spring Seeker program. Spring Seeker is a community science program where volunteers can search for springs across southern Arizona and northern Mexico, documenting conditions using a simple smartphone app. In the first two years of Spring Seeker, we've recorded data on more than 700 springs, which allows us to nominate many of these sensitive water sources for protection in Arizona. Our data in Sonora are helping us to collaborate with ranchers on conserving and restoring springs as well. We invite you to attend the talk to learn more about the program and sign up to visit springs across the Sky Islands while you’re out hiking!
*To prepare for the talk, please install "ArcGIS Survey123" from the app store on your smartphone and then visit this link to install the Spring Seeker Survey: https://arcg.is/18aCjm
About the Field Trip (July 30th, 8am, register here):
Join Sky Island Alliance in the field to explore Clark Spring in southern Arizona's Huachuca Mountains. This is an approximately 2-mile round-trip hike at 6,000 feet elevation. We'll depart from the Clark Spring Trailhead and head up Carr Canyon Road to a natural spring that hasn't been surveyed before by Spring Seekers. As a group, we’ll decide how to answer the survey questions, and everyone will get a chance to submit their own surveys and pictures!
Rendezvous at 8am at the Pizzeria Mimosa to carpool to Clark Spring Trailhead in Carr Canyon (not Miller Canyon). Attendance by RSVP only — limited to 20 participants. Please carpool. .
And note: because we envision this as an event for people new to Spring Seeking, there's a required training session on Friday, July 29 at 3 p.m. You can register here.
