During this workshop you will learn how to identify many woody riparian tree species that grow near waterways. We will begin the morning with a lecture and follow up with a field portion at the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area (SPRNCA). Participants must provide their own transportation.

Schedule:
7:00 AM - 8:00 AM: Lecture
In the lecture portion of this workshop we will cover tree identification information. We will focus on leaf identification and will cover leaf arrangement, leaf shape, leaf base, apex, margin, simple vs compound leaves. After covering leaf terminology and identification we will use those skills to overview riparian trees of southern Arizona.
8:00 AM - 8:30 AM: Transit
Participants must provide their own transportation from the University of Arizona Sierra Vista Campus to the SPRNCA.
8:30 AM - 9:30 AM: Field Identification
Once we arrive at the SPRNCA Trevor will lead a Tree ID walk and we can test the skills that we learned during the lecture portion in the field at the riparian area.
